Free scoring guide: How to analyse a personal narrative sample using High Point Analysis.

This step-by-step guide helps you get from transcript to insight, using High Point Analysis, a macrostructure coding scheme developed by Peterson & McCabe (1983) and McCabe & Rollins (1994). It uses real example narratives from Australian 6-year-old children, elicited using the Westerveld & Gillon Language Sample Protocol (Personal Narratives), available HERE.

My Best-Practice Language Assessment Checklist

This checklist, adapted from Gillon et al. (2006) will help you (speechies) determine what to include when assessing a child in the developing language stage. Our decisions are guided by three factors: 1) we may need to decide if the child shows significant challenges; 2) we want to investigate if these challenges are persistent; 3) we want to evaluate functional impact (Bishop et al., 2016).
